All Wrapped Up - Decorating the Table

Table Decorating

The most wonderful time of the year is almost here! If you’re hosting the big day like I am and want a table that wows, you’re in the right place. This year, the team and I are all about the stunning new Norsu Studio Christmas Crackers we’ve crafted in dreamy, festive shades that set the perfect tone for the entire table.

Read on to discover how we achieved this look, along with some of my top styling tips.

Happy styling, friends! Here’s to a beautiful, memorable table that will have everyone talking long after the last mince tart is gone.

The Base Layer: Set the Scene with Linen

Tablecloth
Cover Up! Got a trestle table? No problem — a soft neutral tablecloth, like the L&M Home Terrace Oatmeal, hides all secrets and sets a beautiful blank canvas.

Placemats
I’ve gone with blush-toned placemats trimmed in gold to add a bit of glitz without stealing the spotlight. These are from Australian brand Same Time Tomorrow.

Napkins
It's no secret we are obsessed with gorgeous napkins and this year we’ve teamed up with Rendr to create an exclusive range of embroidered napkins - designed not just for Christmas but flexible for use at any gathering. Pick a few shades to mix and match for a lovely relaxed vibe, or stick with the one colour for a more traditional tone.

Layer with Foliage, Ornaments & Candles

Pine, fir, or magnolia leaves are beautiful, aromatic choices. This year, I’ve gone with oak stems and added peonies and Queen Anne’s Lace to tie in with a pastel palette. Tip: You’re often amazed at what you can grab from your own garden so check there for foliage options first!

Also, your new best friend should be florist wire. Use this to tighten you clusters, add a cascading trail at the ends of your table, and to keep everything perfectly in place.

Cluster candles

We’ve chosen to scatter oversized tea light candles (but you can also add in tall pillar candles) along the table. It creates a magical, inviting glow that will make your guests linger longer.

Add in other decorative styling objects
We added our favourite tree ornaments, scattering them through the floral arrangement in an organic way. Not only do they add colour, they also reflect the gorgeous candle light, creating a beautiful inviting ambience. To create some height, we couldn't resist adding our favourite Nordic Rooms standing Christmas trees. The classic tones of white and green can be used for years to come.

Add the Fun

This year, it’s all about our norsu Studio Christmas crackers! Forever on the hunt for the perfect cracker, this year we decided to make our own - available in multi-colour packs or in packs of one design.

These crackers are absolutely the finishing touch to the table, featuring velvet bows that are the star of the season for Christmas 2024.

They’re a hit for every age, and add that interactive element that makes the table feel personal.

TIP: Because they are DIY-made, you can custom add some additional goodies into each cracker if you like!

The Feast

I always use our kitchen island to house all of the food. Let's face it, the table decorations don't allow much space for shared dishes! It's also another excuse to add in a festive moment.

This year, we've clustered our favourite vases - think Bailey, Aurora and of course the Ripple Fruit bowl. We filled these with groups of flowers and our Christmas crackers.

Tip: Scatter pomegranates, cherries, and figs — they look gorgeous and add a natural splash of colour.

We've served our food on our favourite norsu servingware, featuring Robert Gordon platters, Styleware salad servers and the latest Black Blaze ceramics.

Food tip: If you're in a rush (hello, this is always me!) purchase the frozen Aldi Atlantic Salmon, bake it straight in the oven, and use Bianca's trick of dressing it up with the Recipe Tin Eats pomegranate and sour cream sauce. You can't go wrong!

Set the Night Before

Save time and stress on the big day! My top tip is to take the time the night before to set everything up and have a little festive “dress rehearsal.”

Happy styling, friends! Here’s to a beautiful, memorable table that will have everyone talking long after the last mince tart is gone.
