To our freshly revamped norsuHOME concept store
It's been almost four years since we opened the doors to this dream store of ours, and despite pouring all our love into her during this time, she was starting to look a little tired. So this week, we set about to achieve the impossible in only four days...taking advantage of the grand final long weekend, we managed to completely transform this space from top to toe with the help or our amazing norsu team and good mate Dave from Baytech Constructions and his crew.
Our vision for this space has always been to make it feel like a home. Challenging the traditional retail setting by combining a shop aesthetic with a welcoming and inviting home-like feel. From the get-go, we wanted our customers to feel like they are stepping inside our own homes when they walk into the separate living and bedroom zones, styled with our furniture and accessories along with featuring linen sheer curtains, spectacular artwork, and feature pedant lighting.
When we began discussing the refresh with Lauren and Liz from our norsuHOME interior design team, we knew that we needed to keep this homely feel to the space, and we couldn't be happier with the way they've brought everything to life. We've been flooded with questions on what we did, so let us step you through it...
The Paint Selection
We have been lucky to work with Dulux since the beginning of our norsu journey. We love their colours, we know them inside out, and after painting stores 5 times with their paints now, we know which ones work best for us! This time around, we selected our dreamy accent colours from the dreamy 2023 Colour Forecast 'Balance' Palette. You can read more about Balance here.
From the Balance palette we've chosen the fresh pastels Mornington and Green Alabaster Half to feature predominantly throughout our space, along with classic Terrace White on our middle panelled wall.
Accent colours used throughout:
Exterior: Mornington , Internal archways & front internal door: Green Alabaster Half , Internal window boxes and small panelled wall in back room: Ellen
For the panelled walls and ceilings, we wanted to tell a consistent story. After choosing Terrace White, we strategically selected two other pairing colours from the same section of the colour grey colour wheel, and painted all three rooms in graduating depth as you walk through the space.
Here's what we selected:
Front room - Snow Season Quarter, Middle room - Terrace White Back Room - Tranquil Retreat
For the remaining walls throughout and all trims - doors and skirting boards - we have used our go-to white - Vivid White . This bright crisp white pairs beautifully with all colours, and never looks too cool or two warm. You honestly can't beat it!

We've gone all out with feature lighting in this space - as in we have used almost every single pendant that we sell at norsu - 16 individual feature lights to be exact! Some may say OTT, but to us we say the more the merrier - let's get up close and personal with our faves...
Robert Gordon Interiors
We've been waiting for the opportunity to install the Robert Gordon Interiors lighting range in this store since we began selling it earlier this year. The minute we laid eyes on these beauties being individually handmade in Robert Gordon's Pakenham factory, we knew they were special. And let's just say, we've made up for lost time in a big way, selecting one of literally every light in their pendant and sconce range. The impact they have made instantly to our store is undeniable. Transforming it to give the feeling of home.
Klaylife Calo Pendants
Our best selling Calo pendant makes a big impact in the back living room. Handmade in Spain. These stunning lights have been a part of our collection for menu year, and with good reason! We've clustered three of our faves in varying colours and sizes for maximum impact in this room.
The Dancing Pendant by Menu
We knew instantly, this statement piece by Danish design house Menu needed to find a home in our store make over - we love it beyond words, and adore the way our community shares this love too. The gasps from customers as they lay eyes on it makes our hearts skip a beat!! Designed by Copenhagen duo Iskos-Berlin, this pendant is exquisite with a playful twist, with the design takes inspiration from a dancer’s pleated skirt caught flaring-up mid-twirl.Fun fact: The Dancing Pendant is made from ET felt. It is 100% recyclable material produced mainly of used soda/water bottles.
Eos Feather Pendant
The Eos feather lamp is another norsu favourite that has been part of our collection since the very beginning. The soft nature of this pendant gives a calm and dreamy feel to any space, and we love that it works in both adults and children's spaces. This guy has been in our store since the first renovation, but we just couldn't bear to say goodbye.
It wouldn't be a norsu store without an abundance of Globe West and Ethnicraft pieces, plus our own bespoke bedheads and ottomans. You can see all the main pieces we have included in the collection below.
We find it hard to look past our favourite Easycraft VJ panels, and have used this in almost every norsu store we've had. When we began the original fit out of this space, we knew we wanted to mix it up a little, so we opted to install the VJ board on the ceiling, then cascading onto the feature walls in each room. The impact these inexpensive panels have made to this space is phenomenal. With the refresh, we retained the panelling, replacing one wall which suffered water damage, and painted the remaining rooms in new colours.
The beauty of choosing a neutral timeless flooring, is you should never need to change it. Which was exactly the case in this space. Our stunning Godfrey Hirst flooring was not going anywhere when we began planning the makeover as we knew it was going to still pair beautifully with the new look. For anyone interested, the boards we have laid in this space are from the Godfrey Hirst Oak Elegance collection in the colour Coastal Oak.
Some might say that installing linen sheer curtains in a retail store was a little extravagant... We'd say, absolutely not! The difference these have made to the space has been transformational. Making it feel like a real home. We teamed with our friends at Warwick Fabrics along with Matt from Sheridan Window Furnishings to install sheers along our window from the Warwick Aesop range. The colours we have chosen are Atlantic and Parchment. Stay tuned, because we still have more to be installed over coming days...
Thank you so much for following along with us on this crazy journey. We are so thrilled with the outcome, and can't wait to welcome you into this space very soon.
Big love, Kristy & Nat xx
