The lounge room is the styling centrepiece of the home and often the most challenging - not just because it’s often the biggest space but also because there are simply so many elements to coordinate and consider.
Our norsu Design team had an absolute ball with the Malvern Residence lounge room, meticulously planning the space and selecting the perfect pieces. Below we talk to our Senior Interior Designer Lauren Bartlett-Bragg of norsu Design to take us through her selections and tips.
“Who doesn’t love a good sofa recommendation? For the lounge room in the Malvern Residence there were several criteria that our sofa selection had to meet. It needed to make the large area feel cosy for the family with enough space for everyone (including the pups) to gather and relax comfortably, therefore finding a sofa with flexible modular configurations was our first box to tick.
Fabric selection is always a huge consideration and whilst we want the colour to match with the scheme (a non-negotiable!), we also want the sofa fabric to be high quality and hardwearing - it’s not a purchase you want to be making every couple of years! We went with a Warwick Fabric selection in Hawthorn Silver.
Speaking of longevity, finding a modern timeless shape, that also feels like a cloud to lounge on, is another key criteria. Skye’s brief was a sofa to sink into, preferably something feather-filled.
Let me introduce you to the winning selection for the Malvern Residence - the Shona sofa! So good and available in just about every size and configuration, Shona is a winner and a lounge I’m predicting will be incredibly popular.
Shona is paired to perfection with our favourite Tripod coffee table and design-your-own norsu Ottoman which is in Parissi Rosewater by Warwick Fabrics.
One of the first things we look at when designing a living space is the rug. Not only does it add warmth and comfort but it also helps zone the area and helps define the living space, especially in an open plan setting where you need to identify your different zones. I selected the gorgeous Armadillo Pompeii rug in Ore which is a mid-grey tone with beautiful colour variation - perfect for a high traffic space.”
